March 12 & 13, 2014 Storm

Looks like the storm lived up to the hype throughout the NEK. Storm totals from around the region ranged from 9 -16 inches of snow. It was hard to get an accurate mesurment here at the weather station due to the heavy drifting. My best guess is around a foot here in Island Pond. Today was very cold for Mid March with temps hovering in the single digits.

For the first time this year the 24″ mark is buried on the snow stake.

Valentines Storm update 2/14/14

Last night when I turned in I thought the storm was a bust. However, when I got up this morning we had indeed gotten some snow. At 2pm light snow continues to fall on the NEK. Snow totals from around the region are between 6-14 inches with some other parts of the state recording up to 2 feet of snow! The highest total from around the NEK that I could find was 14 inches in Averill. Here in Island Pond we’ve received 8.5″ so far. The wind is really blowing it around creating white out conditions during some of the heavier gusts.

I was hoping to see the 24″ mark covered on thewebcam snow stake, but we didn’t manage to get enough for that. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow….

After a few days of warm weather a cold front came through last night. Today is much colder and blustery with flurries in the air. The current temp at 12:30 PM is 28 degrees.

I’ve still got some work to do on the website, but I have got the forecast page up and it can be found hereĀ  http://nekwx.com/weather/forecast.php The cable for the webcam should arrive in the next couple of days and I hope to have it up and running by the weekend.
