While some of New England was dealing with severe storms on Sunday and Monday, we just had a decent rainfall of 1.26″ will some thunder and lightning here. Revere, MA wasn’t as fortunate as they had a tornado come through on Monday. Yesterday, July 29th, was on the cool side throughout the Northeast Kingdom with a high of only 65.6° in Island Pond, VT. Today started out with a low of 43 in Island Pond, 42 at Coles Pond and 41 in Wheelock. Temperatures have rebounded to the upper 60s to low 70s in the NEK.
The rest of the week looks to be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
I’ll end this post with the current image from our Webcam.
The heat and humidity from the past several days will be nothing but a memory as a cold front moves through later today. There could be some strong storms out ahead of the front. The timing of the storms in the NEK appears to be early to mid afternoon. Should you be outside when one of these comes through, seek shelter immediately. After the front clears the area, we will return to more comfortable summer weather right into the weekend.
While much of New England had flooding rains and damaging storms, the Northeast Kingdom fared much better. Here in Island Pond we had .87″ of rain. Coles Pond in Walden got .30″, Wheelock recorded .49″.
Now that the ffront has moved through the air feels much better today with cooler temps and lower humidity.
