Cloudy days, snow to kick off November???

I am starting to get tired of all of this dreary weather that we have been having lately.  Although it hasn’t really rained much, cloudy days have dominated the weather for most of the week, and are forecast for the rest of the week here in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

There is a chance of snow coming to Island Pond and the NEK with a system that will be moving through this weekend.  It’s a little early to say how much snow that may fall, but it does look like we will see the coldest air of the season after the storm passes through. I guess it is about time to dig out the snow stake.

NEK Nor’easter wrap up

The Nor’easter that impacted much of New England over the past several days didn’t have much of an impact on the North East Kingdom of Vermont.  Several areas closer to the Atlantic saw 5 to 6 inches of rain, and wind gusts in excess of 50mph. Here in Island Pond we saw very little wind. Rain wasn’t much of a factor either with just .88 inches over the past 4 days.  The heaviest rain fell yesterday,  October 23, with .43 inches.

The forecast for the upcoming weekend doesn’t look all that great.  We should see a little sun tomorrow,  Saturday,  before a front gets closer in the afternoon with showers likely.  Sunday is supposed to be cloudy with shoers likely.  Hopefully we will see some sun early next week.

A few flakes yesterday, more rain ahead

We did have our first snow flakes of the season yesterday here in Island Pond.  Not nearly enough to coat the ground,  but I did see a few photos posted on twitter of snow on Mt Mansfield.

It llooks like October is going to continue to be on the wet side as a Nor’easter is expected to form of the east coast and bring rain to New England for the next several days. The heavist rain is expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
