Rainy October so far, maybe some snow?

We seem to be getting lots of rain here in the North East Kingdom of Vermont lately. The weather station here in Island Pond recorded 1.1″ of rain yesterday, and .27″ of rain so far today. The entire month of October has been on the wet side with 3.73″ of rain so far. Showers are in the forecast right through the upcoming weekend. We may even see a few flurries and snow showers by Sunday as cooler air works it’s way in to the NEK. Check our webcam later in the weekend to see if any snow does fall in Island Pond.

I’ll end this post with a current image from our webcam. As you can see, most of the leaves have fallen off the trees.

Trees in Island Pond are mostly bare as we move toward winter in the NEK

Warm air returns to the NEK

What a beautiful day today was in the North East Kingdom of Vermont! Today’s high temperature in Island Pond was a rather warm 73°. That would not be considered all that warm if it was August,  or even early September.  But, for mid October it was warm. The next few days are forecast to be warm, too with highs in the low 70’s. However,  tomorrow the weather forecast is for mostly cloudy skies, and some rain is forecast for Thursday.

As for the ffoliage,  we are well past peak here with most of the colorful leaves now on the ground. The remaining leaves still on the trees are mostly the yellows and rust. It won’t be long before we see the first snow of the season.  That reminds me,  I need to dig out the snow stake that goes out in front of the webcam.
