Frost Advisory for NEK of VT September 14, 2014

The NWS in Burlington has issued a frost advisory for the NEK. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of the colder mountain valleys see a hard freeze if we see enough cloud free hours overnight. The NWS is calling for a low of 31° here in Island Pond. I have a feeling that we will be a little colder than that. My guess for tomorrow mornings low in IP to be 29°.

Don’t forget to bring in, or cover all of your tender plants that you don’t want to take the chance of loosing to potential frost. I know that I plan on covering my tomatoes 😉

Below is the warning released by the NWS.

Getting ready for winter

Just a quick post to share a photograph from yesterday.  A red squirrel climbed up one of our sunflowers and broke of the flower.  After eating a little bit, it carried the rest off. I’m sure that won’t be the last one it takes. I guess he will eat well this winter.

NEK Fall Foliage Update September 11, 2014

It was kind of a dreary day today with off and on showers throughout the NEK.  So, I took a little ride to check out the fall foliage. The low clouds made it hard to see the mountains,  but I did see some color starting to show. Here’s a photo I took this afternoon just north of Island Pond on VT Rte 114.
