Beautiful weekend in the NEK

It’s hard to get much better weather than we had over the past weekend in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.  On Saturday we had mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 70’s with just enough of a breeze to keep the black flies and mosquitos at bay. Temps quickly fell back through the 60’s – 50’s soon after the sun went down. Sunday was a little warmer with temperatures reaching the upper 70’s to low to mid 80’s throughout the region. We really couldn’t have asked for a better weekend to enjoy the outdoors in Island Pond, VT!

On aanother note,  I’m going to try to adjust the webcam today to show a little more of the sky. Now that the leaves are on the trees it’s hard to see on the camera if the skies are blue, or if it’s cloudy.

Time Lapse Bird Feeder Close Up

It’s hard to see the birds at the feeders on the webcam, so I thought I would try filming a close up. So, yesterday I setup the Gopro camera to take a still image every 2 seconds, and then put them all together. As you will see, we have Goldfinch, Purple Finch, Chickadees, and Red-breasted nuthatch regularly visiting the feeders. It starts kind of slow, but picks up about a minute in to the video.

May 7, 2014 update

There hasn’t been much going on weather wise recently.  We were stuck in a typical spring pattern for the past week or more, cool and cloudy with showers just about every day.  We did see the sun pop out briefly once in a while. We finally broke the pattern today with bright blue skies!

Spring is slowly moving forward with a few buds on the trees.

I’ll end this post with an image from our webcam from last night.
