Still cold, milder end of the week

The below normal temperatures just don’t want to quit this winter.  This mornings low in Island Pond was -16.8. Today’s highs are expected to be in the single numbers.  However,  milder temps are expected later this week. On the plus side, the March sun is very strong. I was just outside with the dog and even at 6 degrees the sun felt warm on my face.

We have not gotten much in the way of snowfall lately with the storm track to our south, just an inch or two here and there with the passing of these cold fronts.

Light snow followed by warm up and rain

Light snow has been falling throughout the region all afternoon.  The forecast is only calling for a few inches to fall. Later in the week the NWS is calling for a brief warm up with a little rain on Friday.  Saturday is also forecast to be in the upper 30’s before returning to colder temps on Sunday.

Here’s a recent image from our webcam in Island Pond with snow falling. As always,  you can view the current conditions on our webcam by pointing your browser here

Valentines Storm update 2/14/14

Last night when I turned in I thought the storm was a bust. However, when I got up this morning we had indeed gotten some snow. At 2pm light snow continues to fall on the NEK. Snow totals from around the region are between 6-14 inches with some other parts of the state recording up to 2 feet of snow! The highest total from around the NEK that I could find was 14 inches in Averill. Here in Island Pond we’ve received 8.5″ so far. The wind is really blowing it around creating white out conditions during some of the heavier gusts.

I was hoping to see the 24″ mark covered on thewebcam snow stake, but we didn’t manage to get enough for that. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow….
