We ended up with 5 inches of heavy wet snow here in Island Pond from the storm on Saturday night-Sunday morning. Totals from around the Northeast Kingdom ranged from 3.5-6.5 inches. This recent snow should help the snowmobile, cross country and snow shoe trails. Next chance of snow is Wednesday.

January 31, 2014 update
Sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve been fighting the flu for the past few days.
Anyway, not much in the way of precipitation has fallen recently. But, on a good note it has been on the mild side for the past few days with highs in the upper 20’s! After all of this cold weather, it felt almost spring like. As for snow prospects, there is a small storm headed in our direction later tomorrow in to Sunday. We may see 3 or 4 inches out of it. The National Weather Service has just issued a winter weather advisory for most of the NEK from 11am on Saturday through 11pm on Sunday.

January Thaw 1/13/14
Today was another mild day for mid January with a high temperature of 40.9° here in Island Pond. The forecast is calling for the mild weather to continue most of the week. It is supposed to cool off a little bit by Thursday, but high temps will still be on the mild side in the lower 30’s. Hopefully we will get a decent snow storm soon so the ski slopes and snowmobile trails can get back in good shape.
