Island Pond Still Mostly Ice Covered 5/1/15

Today is May 1st and Island Pond still has ice covering most of it’s surface. The one exception is near the public boat launch and State Beach area off of Lakeshore Drive on the East end of the Lake. There were even two loons swimming around in the open water. Hopefully the warm weather forecast for the next several days helps melt more of the ice.

Even though it looks like there isn't a lot of ice left on Island Pond from this image taken at the public boat launch, most of the lake is still covered in ice on May 1, 2015.
