It certainly feels like summer in the NEK. After a beautiful weekend with temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s with low huhumidity, the dewpoint is now in the upper 60’s. The result is very muggy air. The forcast is calling for the warm and humid air with a chance of thunder storms to stick around most of the week. There is also a chance of a tropical storm developing off the southeast coast and coming our way around the 4th of July. Hopefully it goes out to sea if it does develop so everyone can enjoy the holiday festivities!

Summer almost here
Tomorrow, June 21st, is the first day of summer. You would think it is more like the first day of fall with the temps we’ve been having over the past few days here in the Northeast Kingdom of VT. On Wednesday the high at least broke 70 degrees with a high of 71°. Yesterday it only got up to 67°. The gusty NW winds made it feel colder than that. Today is another cool day with the same NW winds blowing. It’s almost noon and the temps are still in the 50’s throughout most of the area. The forecast is calling for a warming trend with sunny skies right through the beginning of next week. Get out there and enjoy it because after tomorrow the daylight hours start their downward trend toward fall.
Weekend not what was expected
The forecast for this past weekend here in the NEK was a little off. We did see some sunshine on both Saturday and Sunday, but not until later in the afternoon on both days. Temperatures were also cooler than expected. On Sunday we only managed to get up to a high of 67° here in Island Pond. With gusty winds added in it felt more like fall than it did mid June.
Today iis absolutely beautiful though! The day started on the cool side with a morning low of 41°. However, thanks to the abundant sunshine the temps quickly rebounded. We are expecting to see the temperature top out in the 70’s throughout the area today. The rest of the week looks summer like with temps in the 70’s with a few low 80’s in some spots.
