Longer days

We are getting more daylight now that we are closing in on mid February. The sun is also getting a lot stronger. The stronger sun is really noticeable when getting in to a car that has been sitting in the sun on a cold day like today. It’s not as frigid in the car as it was during the same type of day in the beginning of January.

Here’s an image from our webcam at around 5:30pm yesterday. A month ago it would have been dark at that time.

Snow totals around the NEK

Well, we finally got a snow storm that matched,  or exceeded the predicted amounts. Snow totals from around the Northeast Kingdom ranged from 6 to 10 inches of light fluffy snow. The highest total I found was 10.1 inches in Sutton.  Here in Island Pond we received 8.5 inches.  This should really help bring the snowmobile riders out, and give a much needed boost to the local businesses.  It also makes  for a beautiful winters day with all the white snow on the trees.
